Low back pain is one of the most common medical conditions, and is the leading cause of disability worldwide. It is estimated that 8 out of 10 Americans will experience low back pain some time during their lifetimes. Treatments commonly used to treat this condition include physical therapy, injections, and anti-inflammatory medications. While these can be helpful for acute injuries, they often are less effective in patients who have been suffering from back pain for more than 2-3 months.
The overprescribing of opioid medications, which contributed to the recent opioid crisis, was due in part to the lack of effective, non-addictive pain medication treatments. MedVadis, in collaboration with our research sponsor partners, is working to change this. If you suffer from chronic low back pain, please consider participating in one of our non-opioid back pain trials. Together we can bring safer and more effective pain relief to the millions of individuals afflicted with back pain.
